“Our hope is that RideScout will help teach people who don’t even know about car2go yet how accessible and easy to use the car2go service is.”

RideScout™, an Austin-based transportation app start-up, announced today that a search and reservation functionality for car2go is now fully integrated into the RideScout platform and accessible in all U.S. car2go cities.

RideScout’s supplier agnostic ride provider platform, currently available as an app for iPhones, aggregates public, private and social transportation options around a user, and recommends a “best ride” based on convenience factors such as cost and time.

Current registered car2go members can use their credentials to reserve vehicles via RideScout. For members and non-members alike, RideScout displays the three best car2go options as recommended rides and presents a link encouraging non-member users to sign up for car2go membership.

RideScout CEO and Founder Joseph Kopser says, “Our hope is that RideScout will help teach people who don’t even know about car2go yet how accessible and easy to use the car2go service is.”

"RideScout is like car2go super-sized," says Austin car2go member Ytzel McDaniel. “I can see public transit, taxis, pedicabs, ridesharing and now car2go too. The cool thing is that RideScout gives a car2go trip cost estimate – something the car2go app doesn’t even do yet.”

The full integration of car2go into the RideScout App will allow RideScout, currently in beta in Austin, TX, to quickly build relationships with car2go members in Washington DC, Seattle, Portland, Denver, Miami and other U.S. car2go cities.

“The true alternative to car ownership is better access to the ecosystem of options that are already in place,” says Kopser. “Car2go, taxis, transit and ride sharing used together effectively will give RideScout users the peace of mind that there is always a way to get where you need to go.”

The RideScout application is free to download and available for iPhones in the Apple App Store. A web and Android version will be available by Fall 2013.
