DeCurtis Corporation is proud to announce that it was shortlisted in the Systems category at the 2013 IHS Safety at Sea Awards for Mobile Assembly Suite (MAS). The awards recognize innovation and excellence while paying tribute to outstanding contributions made to the maritime safety industry. In this their seventh year, the awards celebrate the role that safety managers and manufacturers play in saving and protecting lives at sea across the international maritime safety market.
Derek Fournier, Vice President, DeCurtis Corporation:
“We at DeCurtis Corporation are flattered by our selection to the short list at the 2013 IHS Safety at Sea Awards. These awards cover the entire maritime safety industry and, as such, serve as a significant compliment to the solution Mobile Assembly Suite offers.”
DeCurtis Corporation is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner that provides software consulting for all industries but has spent an extensive amount of time in the cruise and hospitality market assisting cruise lines and other entities convert their business needs into market differentiators through the efficient implementation of custom software solutions. Mobile Assembly Suite (MAS) is a product of that process and partnership as it was developed collaboratively with a leading cruise and entertainment company operating out of Port Canaveral, FL who subsequently has allowed DeCurtis Corporation to bring the product to the entire industry. DeCurtis Corporation was previously honored as the Supplier of the Year 2012 by Seatrade Insider Cruise Awards and is proud to provide Mobile Assembly Suite (MAS) to the industry as a method to improve on board safety on an international level.
Mobile Assembly Suite (MAS) represents the most comprehensive technical solution for electronic mustering available for cruise and passenger ships. Mobile Assembly Suite (MAS) continues to improve the level of safety aboard ships by focusing the solution on operational excellence, leveraging the most advanced technology possible and most critically, a clear focus on delivering a solution designed for the emergency condition it is intended for; not simply drills.
“Mustering, and electronic mustering to a significant extent, is a process that everyone understands. That said, it is a lot like insurance in that you know you need to have a plan but many fail to evaluate what happens when you actually need to use it. MAS was built from the ground up to empower the crew to assist with rallying, reporting and evacuating passengers and other crew on board a vessel in the event of a real emergency. The technology incorporated provides multiple layers of back up for communication issues and the reporting is designed to provide rapid information throughout and after a drill or evacuation.”
With the elevated focus on safety at sea, electronic mustering is sure to come under an increased amount of evaluation. Mobile Assembly Suite (MAS) being short listed by IHS for the 2013 Safety at Sea Awards is a clear indication of the increased attention being paid to this critical process.
The 7th annual Safety at Sea Awards was hailed a success by industry figures. The evening celebrated the role that safety managers and manufacturers play in saving and protecting life at sea across the international maritime market. A record breaking number of entries were received this year from around the globe and shortlists of three for each of the five categories were agreed.
Judged by an independent panel, the winners in each category was announced at the seventh annual Safety at Sea Awards Ceremony Dinner on board the historic ship, HMS Belfast in London on 13th June 2013. The guest of honor at the awards ceremony was Tim Kent, technical director of Lloyd’s Register. Mr. Kent presented the shortlisted entrants with certificates, and the winners in each category with a trophy.
