Today, the Texas Star Alliance announced former Texas Commissioner of Education Robert Scott has joined the firm. With more than two decades of experience, Scott is widely recognized as a leading policy expert on both state and federal public education issues.

“We feel extremely fortunate to add someone of Robert Scott’s caliber to our firm’s robust roster of public policy experts. His continued advocacy for stronger school safety programs, formative student assessments, and rigorous curriculum standards - combined with his innovative approach to policy development - makes him one of the most respected education authorities in the country,” said John Pitts, founder of Texas Star Alliance. “His experience and reputation speak volumes.”

Governor Perry first appointed Robert Scott as Commissioner of Education in 2007. As Commissioner, Scott served at the helm of the Texas Education Agency, which oversees K-12 education for the state’s almost 5 million students enrolled in both public and charter schools. Prior to his appointment, Scott previously represented the agency as interim commissioner twice and served four years as chief deputy commissioner responsible for directing the agency’s daily operations.

Scott has garnered praise for his effectiveness in implementing statewide education initiatives and steadfast advocacy of improving school readiness at every education level. He has also been credited for the strong strategic leadership he provided when faced with challenges such as a massive agency restructuring and budgetary restraints during his tenure at TEA.

In regards to joining the firm, Robert Scott stated, “I am excited to work with Texas Star Alliance’s stellar team of policy, political and communications strategists. This arrangement will help me better serve my clients and expand my practice through dynamic partnerships with other alliance members.”
