We found Wine Country Getaways to be a fantastic resource for wine country recommendations.
Burlingame, CA (PRWEB) June 19, 2013
Joe and Janelle Becerra launched the website http://www.winecountrygetaways.com on their wedding anniversary in June 2003. They had been passionate about wine tasting since 1966 and over the years had developed an expertise in California Wine Country Travel. When they noticed a lack of wine country information on the Internet, they decided to create a website that would help wine travelers plan a successful and exciting trip for their wine country excursions.
When Joe retired after 37 years in Education, it was the perfect opportunity to develop Wine Country Getaways and get it online. Wine Country Getaways focuses primarily on wine country in California, but includes travel blogs from Oregon, Washington and Virginia, as well as Canada, Europe and South America.
Joe and Janelle particularly enjoy meeting winery owners and winemakers in small, family-owned wineries. They have personally visited every winery listed on the website and receive no payment from those wineries. The wineries, restaurants and lodging listed on the site are their personal favorites and all the photography is original.
The website is continually updated and now Wine Country Getaways covers eleven wine regions of California. Within each wine region, the Becerras have created several wine trails, each with a different focus, such as Napa Valley’s 100-year-old Wineries and Hidden Wineries in the Hopland Wine Regions of Mendocino County. The website is unique in that it is not simply a directory of wineries. Each winery has been carefully selected with the tourist in mind.
The Becerras have attended all six North American Wine Bloggers Conferences and will attend their second European Wine Bloggers Conference this fall in Spain. Attendance at these conferences enables them to explore new wine regions and network with wine experts and other wine bloggers.
Since Wine Country Getaways was created, it has been viewed by over 4.25 Million visitors. In the coming years, additions to the site will include Oregon and Washington wineries.
