The government is looking at reducing the quality of first aid training provision and that appears to be the reason why they are moving away from the Health and Safety Executive approved qualification.

First aid training Manchester will continue to run the First Aid at Work refresher courses through the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), but will also introduce the level 2 award in First aid, which is equivalent to the First Aid at Work qualification. The level 2 qualification is overseen by Ofqual and will be run under Highfield compliance body. The Health and safety Executive qualification will be phased out as of October 2013.
The government is looking at reducing the quality of first aid training provision and that appears to be the reason why they are moving away from the Health and Safety Executive approved qualification. The HSE approved courses have long been recognised as the gold standard for first aid training. Organisations as of October 2013 will be able to select the first aid provision which they regard as suitable. The big fear is that companies and organisations will reduce their first aid provision in order to cut corners and save costs.
By offering Ofqual approved qualifications, standards have to be achieved which are very similar to the HSE standards required. If you book a course with first aid training Manchester such as our new First Aid at Work refresher qualification, you can be assured on the quality of the training.
The First person on scene (FPOS) qualification is aimed at individuals and businesses who are looking at a higher level of qualification than the standard first aid at work qualification. The FPOS course is an accredited qualification. The training takes place over a period of five days and there is an assessment which must be successfully completed at the end of the course.
