In-House Public Relations, a public relations and marketing firm focusing on the housing industry and those who support it, has won a 2013 Award of Excellence from the Community Builders and Remodeler’s Association.
The Award of Excellence for Market Support in Public Relations was one of 65 categories, most highlighting exceptional new homes, renovations, commercial buildings, and new-home and rental communities. Doug Fenichel, APR, president of In-House Public Relations, accepted the award.

Advertising and brochures are still important, but today an organization must have a comprehensive, targeted communications strategy to be successful.”
In-House Public Relations won its award for helping Grant Homes, a Mendham-based custom builder, reassert its market position as recovery began. Fenichel created a campaign that showed how Grant Homes came through the housing downturn by emphasizing a personal and consultive approach and by simplifying the building and renovating process through one-stop shopping and additional services.
In-House PR told the story through social and traditional media, including online news releases and placement of an article published on the front page of the business section of the Sunday Star Ledger.
“Crafting a story that tells about a business in a way that is honest, carries key messages and piques a reporter’s interest is much different than writing ad or advertorial copy,” said Fenichel. “It also makes for better on-line reading, carries higher credibility and can send more people to the organization’s website. The next step, we all hope, is a call that leads to a sale.”
The awards were given by the Community Builders and Remodelers Association of New Jersey, a local professional trade organization that’s affiliated with the New Jersey Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders. It serves Essex, Morris, Union, Somerset, Warren, Hunterdon and surrounding counties. It was the 29th year for the Awards of Excellence.
