Non-Profit Veterans Service Organization will Partner with PureSolo

The Center for American Military Music Opportunities’ (C*A*M*M*O) will soon add an innovative new tool to its music therapy program for wounded warriors and veterans, thanks to a unique partnership with a British music technology firm. The company has created branded web-based and mobile apps for C*A*M*M*O that are based on its PureSolo global digital music recording platform. PureSolo allows users to download professionally produced background music tracks and accompaniments and record their own audio, video or both.

PureSolo also provides beats that enable users to create their own flow for various forms of rap music. One of the unique features of PureSolo is the ability to “turn” pages of sheet music online just as a musician would when practicing or playing in a live environment.

Participants in C*A*M*M*O’s music therapy program will be able to access the web-based app or download the mobile version on an iOS or Android smart phone (tablet version to come later) and incorporate it into their rehabilitation curriculum. Having these new tools will enable C*A*M*M*O to reach many more veterans, on many more therapeutic levels, according to C*A*M*M*O Executive Director Cathie Lechareas.

“This technology will help our wounded warriors learn music skills they can use to cope with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), depression, and stress management, and we’ll be able to reach and help them no matter where they are, 24/7,” said C*A*M*M*O Director of Music Therapy Tina Haynes, MT-BC, LCAT.

“Active music-making helps elevate mood and can help vets with TBI to improve cognitive functions, focusing skills, attention and memory. What’s also exciting about this app is that the PureSolo technology approaches therapy from a perceptual learning level—touch, hearing, and visual cues—rather than traditional learning, which focuses on reading music and notes,” she added.

PureSolo Chief Executive Officer David Kaplan also commented on the unique partnership with C*A*M*M*O. PureSolo donated the specially branded apps and will be supporting C*A*M*M*O in other ways, including helping with casting talent and promoting C*A*M*M*O’s creative artist development programs.

“We’re immensely proud and very excited to be working with C*A*M*M*O. Using our platform within the area of music therapy is a natural progression for us, especially considering the many partnerships we already have in the education environment, from the UK government’s SingUp campaign to the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and the LA Music Academy (LAMA),” said Kaplan.

“We believe the PureSolo platform will be a valuable resource for both therapists and patients, and placing our technology in the hands of the dedicated and caring therapists at C*A*M*M*O will be a significant day for us all at PureSolo,” he added.

C*A*M*M*O’s music therapy program participants can begin using the web-based app immediately; the mobile app will be tested over the next few weeks and will be incorporated into the curriculum when testing is complete.
