Our systems play an important role in providing care for tens of thousands of patients every day.

This summer, Pevco celebrates 35 years in business as a leading manufacturer of pneumatic tube systems for hospitals.
Pevco’s systems, used to transport pharmaceuticals, lab specimens and blood products between departments and buildings, are used by more than 600 facilities in the United States and Canada, including leading research and teaching hospitals such as University of Maryland Medical Center, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Shands at the University of Florida and St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.
In 2012, Pevco began exporting systems to the Middle East with its first installation in Kuwait. In early 2013, Pevco established a distributor in Beijing and expects to begin shipping systems to China later this year. Based in Baltimore, Pevco has distribution centers in Houston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Toronto, Kuwait City and Beijing.
Since its inception in 1978 in the home of founder Fred Valerino, Sr., Pevco has grown from a two-person operation into an organization with over 100 employees. Most of these employees work at the company’s 41,184-square-foot headquarters in Baltimore. Several other sales and support personnel are located across North America.
Fred Valerino, Jr., who took over his father’s role as Pevco president 17 years ago, said “It’s humbling to know that our systems play an important role in providing care for tens of thousands of patients every day. Our investment in research and development has led to many innovations that help increase safety, accelerate care and reduce costs.”
Over the past 35 years, Pevco has contributed to the advancement of healthcare technology. The company holds several patents, including a method to track and document the exact item delivered by its pneumatic tube system. This innovation enables medical professionals to quickly and safely deliver blood components, high-value pharmaceuticals and difficult to replace lab specimens.
Pevco has been responsible for many other tube system innovations, including its Smart Path delivery routing system which increases system throughput. Pevco also developed its own ergonomic leak-resistant carrier that guards against spills and protects the fragile items it holds.
Along with its market leading innovations, the company has seen the demand to convert other manufacturer systems to Pevco systems increase. Pevco developed methods to do so with minimal disruption to the staff relying on the system
Pevco designs, manufactures, installs and supports hospital pneumatic tube systems that enable healthcare professionals to quickly, safely and reliably transport patient-critical materials between labs, pharmacies, blood banks, ORs, EDs and nursing stations. Used by more than 600 leading hospitals, Pevco’s flexible, intelligent products consistently reduce operating costs and are compatible with all competing pneumatic tube systems. Pevco was founded in 1978 and is headquartered in Baltimore, with support staff positioned throughout North America. To learn more, visit http://www.pevco.com.
