The AKC Canine Health Foundation (CHF) is pleased to announce an associate membership with Partners for Healthy Pets. This alliance of more than 20 leading veterinary associations and animal health companies is committed to a vision of improved overall health for pets. Created by the American Veterinary Medical Foundation, Partners for Healthy Pets strives to help pet owners understand the importance and value of preventive pet healthcare and to provide veterinary professionals with tools to enhance veterinary visits and communicate the value of routine care.
"CHF’s vision is to address the health needs of all dogs across their entire lifetime by focusing on all aspects of their physical, mental, and social well-being," according to Dr. Shila Nordone, CHF’s Chief Scientific Officer. "Partners for Health Pets compliments our vision and we are pleased to be joining with them and other leading animal health organizations who similarly believe in the importance of routine wellness visits."
CHF provides educational resources free of charge to dog owners on the importance of regular veterinary care through its website, newsletters, podcasts, and social media. Some topics include the importance of wellness exams for dogs; snake bite prevention and treatment; parasite control in dogs; gastrointestinal foreign bodies and intestinal obstructions; and pain management for dogs. CHF’s diverse offering of educational topics provides the dog owning public with reliable canine health information and underscores the importance of regular, preventative visits to a veterinarian.
"We are pleased to welcome the AKC Canine Health Foundation as the newest associate member of Partners for Healthy Pets," said Brenda Andresen, Director of Marketing for the Partnership. "Through their unique educational programs and relationships with veterinarians, dog clubs, and dog owners, CHF will play a vital role in supporting our efforts to ensure that pets receive the preventive healthcare they deserve through regular visits to a veterinarian."
