Spectra QEST Wins iAward for Innovation in ICT

Spectra QEST is the SA State iAwards Winner in the Industrial Category. This award honours Spectra QEST for its creation of the innovative QEST Quality Platform, a suite of software products that facilitates substantial improvement in efficiency, quality and standardisation of construction materials testing processes.

The iAwards focuses on innovation, so it’s no surprise that this year’s winning entries clearly differentiated and demonstrated uniqueness in their category as the best in their state.

The iAwards recognises companies at the cutting edge of technology innovation and is “the premier technology awards platform in Australia delivering the most comprehensive awards program which recognises the achievements and innovation made in ICT across all facets of the economy.” (http://www.iawards.com.au)

Spectra QEST Director of Resources and Markets, Stephan Mavrakis, was pleased to accept the award at the SA iAwards event on Wednesday evening. He said, “We see winning an iAward as a great achievement. It is my firm belief that there is world-class software engineering talent available in SA and it is pleasing to see such talent being recognised. Some of these people work for Spectra QEST and I accept this award on their behalf.”

iAwards Chief Judge, Jim Ellis, AO, commented on the calibre of this year’s iAwards winners stating, "The iAwards focuses on innovation, so it’s no surprise that this year’s winning entries clearly differentiated and demonstrated uniqueness in their category as the best in their state.”

At the centre of Spectra QEST’s Quality Platform is a highly specialised and centralised Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), QESTLab. This product has been commercially available for 10 years and has been continually refined and improved in accordance with customer needs. Spectra QEST’s current, innovative and unique solution, the QEST Quality Platform, integrates QESTLab with two recent developments, QESTField and Construction Hive. QESTField is a web-based real time data entry system that provides field staff on the construction site with instant, bi-directional access to the laboratory information management system and enables the instant creation of field testing and inspection reports. Construction Hive is an online collaboration platform providing applications for the efficient distribution and analysis of information relating to construction materials testing and inspection.

The QEST Quality Platform affords substantial benefits to testing companies on large road projects. It was successfully utilised by Professional Service Industries, Inc. (PSI) on the $1.02 billion DFW Connector Project in Texas, and was fundamental in PSI’s successful submission to the American Council of Engineering Companies for which PSI was awarded a Gold Medal for Innovation.
