The article, Smartphones Become Catch-all Devices for UK Consumers, published June 18th by eMarketer, reveals that UK users spent an average of 119 minutes a day, almost two hours, using the device in May. The research conducted by O2 and Samsung also showed than in comparison to last year, a greater proportion of smartphone users reported using the device for almost every activity they were asked about. The two most popular activities were found to be browsing the internet at 24% and checking social networks at 16%.
It is also estimated that more than six out of 10 mobile users in the UK will use a smartphone in 2013, increasing to 65.8 percent of the population in 2017.
