As reported by Medical XPress(6/19), a University of Iowa study, which was published in the May Drug and Alcohol Dependence journal, found that there were wide disparities between white, African American and Latino clients in their success rates for completing programs at drug and alcohol abuse centers.

In 17 states, Latinos were more successful than white clients in completing their substance abuse programs. Four states—Kansas, Oregon, Texas, and Florida—had disparities that were significantly positive for Latinos.

Miami is one of the nation's leading bilingual (English/Spanish) cities. In this warm, scenic area, one will find Harbor Village. A 24/7 medically supervised detox center, Harbor Village treats all minorities with equal respect from its caring, attentive staff. Many members of their professional team are Spanish-speaking and are trained specifically in drug and alcohol addiction treatment programs.

At Harbor Village, clients with drug and alcohol issues can begin a proven step-by-step program to help them eliminate their addiction. Each client enjoys a luxury, state-of-the art environment where they are welcomed with upscale accommodations including a beautifully furnished suite with satellite television, 30,000 square feet of outdoor lounge area, spa, salon, massage and acupuncture services, nutritious, gourmet dining and the personalized support of everyone at the facility.

The study revealed that African-Americans did not fare very well in Tennessee, Idaho and Minnesota, but in Hawaii, Utah, and Mississippi, they had slightly higher rates of success than whites at drug treatment centers. After compiling data from around the nation, it was found that 46.25% of whites, 45.6% of Latinos, and 37.5 % of African Americans successfully completed drug or alcohol abuse programs.

Anyone completing a drug or alcohol abuse program from a qualified facility has a greater likelihood of achieving future success at their next job and sustaining a clean criminal record.
