TabPilot Learning Systems, creator of the TabPilot Tablet Manager for Android, announces the launch of TabPilot FocalPoint, a secure, locked-down web browser for Android tablets. The new browser keeps students focused and on task by locking them into certain websites, which are configured by teachers.

Using a cloud-based control panel, teachers select which sites students can access. The choice is then administered wirelessly and can be applied to a single tablet or an entire group of devices. When students launch TabPilot FocalPoint, the site displays without the address bar that would normally provide access to Internet browsing. This highly controlled browser provides an ideal environment for online standardized tests and practice test sites, as well as any situation where the teacher wants to turn a specific website into a dedicated learning activity.

“As more schools integrate tablets for instructional and testing purposes, teachers and administrators need to ensure the devices are contributing to a productive learning atmosphere,” said TabPilot President Jarrett Volzer. “We created TabPilot FocalPoint to help educators keep their students engaged with learning the lesson at hand.”

Schools are increasingly turning to affordable Android tablets to enhance instruction, and educators need easy, effective management tools that reduce distractions and maximize teaching time.

TabPilot FocalPoint is available either as an add-on to the entire TabPilot Tablet Manager system or as a low-cost, stand-alone subscription for schools without TabPilot Tablet Manager. When used in conjunction with the complete TabPilot Tablet Manager system, teachers and administrators benefit from app management, including remote installation to groups of devices, content management and more.

FocalPoint Secure Browser is a free app, available in the Google Play store or directly from TabPilot. A subscription to TabPilot Control Tower, the cloud-based control panel, is required. Yearly subscriptions are as low as $3 per device for schools that subscribe to the complete Tablet Manager system, or $6 per device for a stand-alone subscription.
