"The renovated Student Commons area will make it easier for EHS residents to enjoy the sense of community that EHS is renowned for," says Kevin Gross, Vice President of Facilities and Property Management at EHS.
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) June 24, 2013
Educational Housing Services, Inc. (EHS) is pleased to unveil its recent expansion and renovation of the community living space at its New Yorker residence, which is situated within the iconic New Yorker hotel located at 481 8th Avenue and 34th Street in midtown Manhattan.
EHS -- which originally leased five floors of the New Yorker Hotel and converted them into premier, all-inclusive student housing -- has expanded onto an additional sixth floor of the building and gave it a 20,000-square-foot, full-floor renovation. Half of the new floor is occupied by the New Yorker Hotel Student Commons, which EHS created to offer large, vibrant, multi-faceted communal spaces complete with cooking, dining, library, recreation, film screening areas, and more.
"We at EHS are constantly striving to provide the best experience possible for our residents," says Kevin Gross, the Vice President of Facilities and Property Management at EHS. "The renovated Student Commons area will make it easier for EHS residents to enjoy the sense of community that EHS is renowned for providing by giving them more space to cook, study, or just relax and enjoy each other's company."
EHS teamed up with award-winning architecture firm Wid Chapman Architects, which was praised for their renovation work at the EHS St. George Residence in 2010, and helped create cooking facilities and lounges that are also eco-friendly in addition to being fresh and lively. The firm also collaborated with artist (and professor at Pratt Institute) Chris Wynter to create a customized motif on lounge columns clad with reclaimed wood.
