Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) June 24, 2013
TypeEd, an L.A.-based program of typography and typesetting courses for designers, students and practitioners (http://www.Type-Ed.com.), welcomes Creative Director Leah Faust as the guest instructor for TypeEd's In The Loop workshops, which will teach script letterform design. The six-hour intensives will be scheduled on two dates; Saturday, July 6 and Saturday, September 14.
"My goal is to pass along the knowledge I've collected through experience and leave students with an appreciation of the unique mark each designer has on script type," said Faust. "I want to encourage patience and repetitive practice for those students who want to continue developing letterforms. Custom type is a desirable skill that pairs with magazine editorial design, branding, fine art and illustration."
Faust specializes in concept development and brand experience for food, beverage and specialty goods. Her illustrious career has included brand development for La Brea Bakery, Bolzano's, and TAO. Most recently, Faust was the creative director at downtown Los Angeles restaurant Bottega Louie, where she helped build a foundation and grow the successful brand for five years. Since departing in 2013, Faust has been working with clients in California, Las Vegas, Hawaii and Japan, using local culture as inspiration.
In the six-hour workshop, Faust will lead students through a journey of script history and technique, and will offer students ways to create elegance and timelessness. Students must have a basic understanding of letterform and classification before enrolling, or have taken the Type 1 class offered at TypeEd. Participants must bring
a laptop computer with Adobe Illustrator installed. Registration fees are $125 for professional designers and $100 for AIGA Members and college students.
Said TypeEd's lead instructor Michael Stinson, "Leah believes in craftsmanship. Our goal at TypeEd is to help students and designers with the fundamental skills of typography, and her script workshop will add a lettering aspect to the typographic skillset offering and allow designers to communicate in multiple ways at once. The session will give people the opportunity to explore and practice professional letterform development with Leah. "
