With the Texas Rangers win over the Oakland Athletics Thursday afternoon, the team has put themselves within one game of taking over the AL West. In the four game series against the A’s, the Rangers have won four of them. The division’s top two team will not play again however until August. This thrilling game ended at home plate with catcher A.J. Pierzynski tagging out Josh Donaldson. It was a well-fought game that was close the whole time. All four runs allowed by starting pitchers happened in the fifth and sixth innings. In the sixth, the Rangers walked two straight batters to give the A’s a 2-1 lead. At the bottom of the inning, the Rangers caught a break when Ian Kinsler scored on a wild pitch and they tied the game at 2. In the top of the seventh, the A’s scored again, but the Rangers answered with their turn up at bat. The Rangers answered with a two run single in the seventh to win the game 4-3. The Rangers will be facing the Cardinals over the weekend, then will play the Yankees in New York.
