There is a real need to confront the fundamental question of how to create an attractive proposition that makes the expectation of the consumer a reality with next-generation telematics systems.

In Europe alone, revenues from mobile communications in 2012 were €174 billion, and mobile data traffic volumes are set to increase 90% each year to 2016 (GSMA & AT Kearney, 2012). As a consequence, in-car connectivity now reaches beyond the luxury vehicle sector, penetrating all vehicle segments. Telematics Update Project Director, Rory Menage stated, “Despite exciting growth in the connected vehicle market, automakers still need to fight to win over the next generation of drivers using on-demand connectivity, working out how this will look in the vehicle, and how it will be paid for.”

He continued, “With auto-OEM and network operators approaching the delivery of in-vehicle content with a diverse range of business models, there is a real need to confront the fundamental question of how to create an attractive proposition that makes the expectation of the consumer a reality with next-generation telematics systems."

To get to grips with these key developments in winning over consumers with the connected vehicle, Telematics Update has organised a live webinar entitled ‘How Auto OEMs Can Satisfy the Digital Native Consumer’. The 45 minute session includes live Q&A's and will be delivered by three key industry figures:
Simon Euringer, Head of ConnectedDrive, BMW

Pawel Stelmaszczyk, Head of Unit ITS, Directorate General of Mobility and Transport, European Commission

Andrea Sroczynski, Head of Germany and Automotive Sales, Telenor Connexion

The debate will cover:

  •     The strategies of OEM connectivity plans such as subscription, transactional and personalised advertising to create the data allowance for consumers to engage with telematics services
  •     See how telecoms companies are forging new business models and frameworks to enable customers to save on data plans and build loyalty in the automotive landscape
  •     Discuss the provisional timelines and frameworks for the launch of eCall and the HeERO project and how this technology platform will benefit evolving ITS architectures and connectivity
  •     Establish strategies for monetisation versus growing an engaged consumer base to deliver revenues through connected vehicle services

The webinar is a unique opportunity to hear first-hand how some of the premier thought-leaders in the telematics ecosystem are strategising to adapt to the new revenue opportunities and challenges presented by the connected vehicle.

The complimentary interactive event will be held on Wednesday, July 3, at 2pm CET and is open to the entire connected vehicle community. Register here: http://www.telematicsupdate.com/munich/webinar.php.
