“We’re quite pleased with the effectiveness of the facility, and the payback has exceeded our expectations,” says Alan Neuner, Vice President of Facilities for Geisinger Health System.
New York, NY (PRWEB) June 27, 2013
Geisinger, an integrated health services organization, closes out its first-year operation of a 4.5 MW generating asset with positive energy payback that exceeded cost reduction estimations by 15%. The financial and operating success of the first generating asset at Geisinger’s main Pennsylvania campus has led the healthcare company to plan a second installation for its Wyoming Valley facility, including the deployment of ZF Energy Development’s Economic Power Dispatcher System(TM).
Designed and managed by ZF Energy Development (Z-FED), the health facility’s energy solution integrates chilled water storage, electric and steam boilers, and conventional chillers, allowing Geisinger to continuously arbitrage the minimum energy price for maximum savings. With locations throughout Pennsylvania, Geisinger Health System serves more than 2.6 million residents throughout 44 counties, making the cost and reliability of energy one of the most critical aspects of the organization’s operation. To ensure accuracy, the company’s energy cost reductions were confirmed by an independent analyst.
“We’re quite pleased with the effectiveness of the facility, and the payback has exceeded our expectations,” says Alan Neuner, Vice President of Facilities for Geisinger Health System. “The energy solutions provided by Z-FED are not only delivering significantly reduced energy costs, but are also streamlining the management of our energy portfolio allowing us to continuously provide exceptional quality services to our clients, regardless of what is happening in the energy markets.”
“Healthcare is an essential pillar in our country’s quality-of-life,” said Michael Overturf, ZF Energy Development’s CEO. “Given growing regulatory, structural, and marketplace challenges, continuous uptime uncertainty has increased. We are committed to our customers’ success and stand at the ready to provide our nation’s healthcare facilities with energy solutions that not only reduce energy costs, but that also allow them to gain control of their energy portfolio.”
