Any new developments in the production of LEDs which can improve performance and widen the use is great news.

According to Electronic Design in an article published on the 19th June 2013, Osram Opto Semiconductor’s MicroSideled 3806 LEDs deliver consistent brightness to tablets, ultrabooks and smartphones over a lifetime of 15,000 hours. Findings showed that the LED bulbs held a light consistency level of around 70 per cent even towards the end of their lifetime, something previously unseen in LED light bulbs. This is achieved by a thin sheet with quantum dots in the backlight that’s illuminated by the blue LEDs, which leads to a narrow emission spectrum that minimizes light loss and creates more vibrant colours.
The increased lifetime and the level of consistent light throughout the life of the LED is something that has previously been unseen in the manufacturing of LEDs. Most tend to lose a large majority of their light towards the end of the light bulbs expected time rather than keep up to 70 per cent of their original brightness.
The news of a prolonged bulb life is welcomed by Simple Lighting Company who supplies LEDs to consumers and businesses alike. On hearing the news, an expert member of the team said:
“Any new developments in the production of LEDs which can improve performance and widen the use is great news. We hope that such research into lights that hold and sustain the same level of light throughout their life will continue and help produce high quality, long lasting products.”
Simple Lighting continues to follow LED news.
