Online car buyer Trademymotor.co.uk has been subject to an attack by a competitor in the now vicious online car buying arena. The technical team from Trademymotor.co.uk were alerted on Saturday the 16th of June with a message from the Google webmaster platform informing them of unnatural inbound links and that a manual penalty had been applied to the domain. The team then set about tracking down the issue to find that a 3rd party had used underhanded tactics to build links from spam based websites, then manually report the site to Google as a violation to the webmaster guidelines. This came as Trademymotor.co.uk launched a nationwide TV campaign, almost perfect timing for the attacking party.

A spokesman from trademymotor.co.uk said: "We also had a call from a company called bestcarbuyer.co.uk who have been hit by exactly the same means and it seems that someone is looking to take competition out of the market by whatever means possible, it’s dirty but this is the car trade. We have a fair idea who is responsible and we will deal with them through the correct channels."

TradeMyMotor founded in 2009 are currently in talks with an undisclosed party who plan open around 80 branches as close as possible to competitor Webuyanycar.com’s most lucrative sites. They say this will give customers the option to obtain a final price from both companies quickly and then make a decision on who to sell to.
