Already a trailblazer in the moving industry, Atlas World Group is now the first Indiana company to sign a national Statement of Support with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense operational committee. Atlas, the parent company of one of the nation’s leading movers, Atlas Van Lines, will sign the statement during an Employee Appreciation Day from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., June 28 at Cambridge Golf Club in Evansville, Ind. Jack Griffin, president and COO of Atlas, will sign the State of Support alongside special guests BG John McGoff, chief of staff, Indiana Air National Guard; Alex Baird, principal deputy director at ESGR; and Lloyd Winnecke, mayor of Evansville, Ind. Indiana Military Support Corporation, a non-profit organization that assists building and strengthening relationships between employers and their military employees, will host a golf scramble beginning at 1 p.m., just after the signing.

The Statement of Support confirms that Atlas World Group joins other employers in pledging that:

  •     Atlas fully recognizes, honors and enforces the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act (USERRA).
  •     Atlas managers and supervisors will have the tools they need to effectively manage those employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.
  •     Atlas appreciates the values, leadership and unique skills service members bring to the workforce and will encourage opportunities to hire Guardsmen, Reservists and Veterans.
  •     Atlas will continually recognize and support our country’s service members and their families in peace, crisis and in war.

"Atlas has always had a strong commitment to military service men and women, and admires their global perspective and leadership, among other quality characteristics,” said Griffin. “We’re honored and thrilled to ink our pledge to join the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve’s mission to gain and maintain employment opportunities while also dedicating time and resources to help our military transition from deployment to employment.”

As the 1.3 million members of the National Guard and Reserve continue to perform an increasing number of unique missions that require extraordinary actions on the part of everyday citizens, ESGR will continue to be the informational agency for employers of our nation’s service men and women, such as Atlas.

“Supportive employers like Atlas are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation's Guard and Reserve units,” said Elizabeth Ransom, PST at Indiana Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. “By meeting the Statement of Support criteria, Atlas stands proudly with its Guard and Reserve employees, who continue to answer their nation’s call to defend our way of life.”
