Mars’ Moonshine Jungle Tour kicked off last Saturday night June 22 to a sold-out Verizon Center crowd in Washington, D.C. In support of his second album, Unorthodox Jukebox, the 41-date North American summer arena tour features opening acts soul sextet Fitz and the Tantrums tag teaming with London's "folktronica" star Ellie Goulding.

After a concert last night in Philadelphia, the tour hits Boston tomorrow night, Wednesday the 26th, Uncasville on July 27, Brooklyn on June 29, and Newark on July 1.

Screams erupted when a giant screen lit up with sparkly golden palm trees, and Mars (and his eight-piece band all dressed in red suits and cheetah-print shirts) dove into the song “Moonshine”.

Peter Gene Hernandez, known as Bruno Mars, was born on October 8, 1985. He was raised in Honolulu, Hawaii by a family of musicians and began performing in his hometown at a very young age.

In 2010, Mars released his debut album called Doo-Wops & Hooligans. Thanks to two worldwide number-one singles called "Just the Way You Are” and "Grenade”, the album peaked at number three on the Billboard 200.
