Recently, Healthy Hearing introduced hearing center interviews. These pieces provide a behind-the-scenes look at a select number of our listed clinics. They contain pertinent information on the history of the business along with staff experiences and ways the office is staying current with hearing trends.

The following four clinics were recently showcased on Not only are these clinics striving to offer the most-up-to-date and current technology, the staff is impacting and educating communities on the scope of hearing loss.

Preferred Hearing Care is based out of Springfield, MO and is a member of the Better Business Bureau. The owner, Sue Ekstam, changed careers in her middle thirties and decided to devote her life to helping people hear better after discovering a passion for it during a Communication Sciences Disorder class. Preferred Hearing Care’s philosophy is that the customer is always right. She has confidence in the patient’s requests and their ability to communicate their needs and wants. In addition to her office work, Ekstam has traveled to 11 different countries to help train other professionals on hearing aids and fitting.

For nearly 30 years Kos/Danchak Audiology & Hearing Aids has been helping the public of Arlington hear well again. Practice owner Dr. Melissa Danchak and her staff work to educate the community against the negative connotation that hearing aids are only for older individuals. She encourages her patients to move past these ideas and wants to help them improve not just their hearing, but their quality of life. Kos/Danchak provides thorough follow-up appointments after the initial device fitting to ensure it’s working properly and the patient is happy. Patient satisfaction is a priority for Danchak.

Audiological Services has been serving the Lufkin, Texas area since 1995. The clinic boasts complete audiological evaluations, hearing aid services and a 30-day trial for hearing aids. The owner, Sally Muhlbach, is proud of the atmosphere her staff creates at the clinic. The staff at Audiological Services ensures individuals are not just comfortable with their new device, but understand the wide range of features offered and helps tailor it to an individual’s use and needs.

Although Ashbrook Audiology & Hearing Aid Centers, Inc., has only been open for the last 10 years, owner Paul Ashbrook has a personal connection and understanding with his patients. As a hearing aid wearer himself, Ashbrook can identify with the concerns and fears individuals may have about seeking help for their hearing loss. His office and staff works diligently to educate the community on the high-tech hearing aids available today and helps them feel comfortable during their initial consultation. Since opening in 2003, Ashbrook Audiology and Hearing Aid Centers, Inc. has expanded to three offices in Martinsville, Danville and Stuart, Va.
