The Adler Modification of the Fox Arthrodesis results in minimal pain and no time off the foot.
New York, New York (PRWEB) June 26, 2013
Dr. Jeffrey Adler, Medical/Surgical Director and Owner of Adler Footcare of Greater New York announced a minimally invasive surgical procedure has been named for him called The Adler Modification of the Fox Arthrodesis, a foot surgery for hammertoes. He announced the procedure while lecturing to the National Meeting of the Academy of Ambulatory Foot and Ankle Surgeons in New Orleans June 20-23.
The Fox Arthrodesis is a type of foot surgery specifically for hammertoes using a minimally invasive approach that corrects the hammertoe by fusing the joints together and straightening the toe. Minimally invasive surgery refers to surgery that is performed by making a very small incision or no incision at all. In most instances no stitches are needed. The Adler modification produces a de-rotated hammertoe for fifth toe hammertoes that have arthritic changes in the joint.
The Adler Modification of the Fox Arthrodesis results in minimal pain, virtually no time off the foot, and the ability to wear closed-toed shoes when the swelling goes down, usually in one to four weeks.
“The minimally invasive hammertoe surgery is a wonderful process, especially with the Fox Arthrodesis and the Adler Modification,” Dr. Jeffrey Adler said. “I have performed about 3,000 Fox Arthrodesis procedures in the last 25 years, and complaints of postoperative pain were present in less than 1% of the patients I operated on.”
Dr. Adler is one of only 12 Professors of Minimally Invasive Foot Surgery from the Academy of Ambulatory Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He performs the procedures at his Joint-Commission Accredited operating suite located in Manhattan.
