Education Publishing Company Sponsors Golf Outing for Children Facing Adversity

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth & Middlesex Counties second annual FORE! The Kids Golf Outing held on June 18.

Like Big Brothers Big Sisters, The CollegeBound Network is dedicated to making a difference in people’s lives through mentoring and education.

Children dealing with tough circumstances need more than a handout – they need a hand up from someone who cares. That’s the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters, a national nonprofit organization: “To provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.”

The mission couldn’t be a better fit for The CollegeBound Network, which has demonstrated a commitment to helping others change their lives through education for more than 25 years.

That’s why CollegeBound Cares, the philanthropic arm of The CollegeBound Network (CBN), was proud to be part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth & Middlesex Counties second annual FORE! The Kids Golf Outing held on June 18. The Staten Island, NY-based education publishing company sponsored two tee holes, with four employees playing in the outing, and four additional employees volunteering their time at the New Jersey event.

“We want to level the playing field for all children to succeed, regardless of their background,” says Sean-Reed McGee, CBN’s senior vice president of sales, who lead the initiative. “Like Big Brothers Big Sisters, The CollegeBound Network is dedicated to making a difference in people’s lives through mentoring and education.”

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth & Middlesex Counties serves more than 500 kids each year through its programs, and its efforts are certainly making a difference. According to the 2012 Outcomes Report compiled from the agency’s Youth Outcomes Surveys, 92.5% of children matched believe they will graduate from high school, and 91.3% of children matched believe they will graduate from college.

“Success often starts with envisioning a positive outcome, and believing you can achieve it,” says McGee, who has worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth & Middlesex Counties’ board of trustees for three years. “Big Brothers Big Sisters and The CollegeBound Network are helping kids envision a positive future, and creating the opportunities to help them get there.”
