“We are enthusiastic to begin the rollout of our online education courses with the initial SDTM and SDTMIG Basics Modules,” said Frank Newby, CDISC Executive VP of Education.
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) June 25, 2013
CDISC and HealthCarePoint (HCP) are proud to announce the launch of CDISC Online Education on 24 June 2013, the first day of the 2013 DIA conference in Boston. CDISC has long offered in-person Authorized Training Courses around the globe, and with the recent level of increased interest in CDISC Education, it was determined that offering courses online would be beneficial to those seeking CDISC Authorized Education and for which ongoing, traditional public and private training courses did not match the level of need.
“We are enthusiastic to begin the rollout of our online education courses with the initial SDTM and SDTMIG Basics Modules,” said Frank Newby, CDISC Executive VP of Education. “Our partnership with HealthCarePoint and the use of their unique Training Campus system will allow us to reach everyone who has a need for CDISC Education. Additionally, our new online training courses will feature the opportunity to become certified at the end of the CDISC Authorized Education course taken. This chance to reach new audiences with a need for CDISC Authorized Education, and also to ensure understanding of course material through certification will help to advance our mission to improve medical research and related areas of healthcare.”
Partnering with HealthCarePoint, CDISC will begin offering SDTM Basics on 24 June 2013 through HCP’s innovative clinical e-learning management system. SDTM Basics is a beginner’s course in understanding CDISC’s most popular standard, the Study Data Tabulation Model. Later in the year, CDISC will make the full SDTM course available online, and future courses will include CDISC Global Approach to Accelerating Medical Research, Therapeutic Area Standards, CDASH and Controlled Terminology. These courses will be offered in sets of 30-minute modules, allowing for convenience and flexibility in training schedules, and each module can be purchased separately or in sets. Courses can be accessed globally, 24/7 on virtually any device – computer, tablet or even mobile.
“We are very excited about the opportunity to work with CDISC,” stated Al O. Pacino, President of HCP. “By including CDISC’s standards-based curricula to our established International Electronic Education Network (IEEN), we continue our mission to connect healthcare and clinical research, adding a valuable key component to the global standardization of training and certification programs which have been proven to eliminate redundancies and minimize fraud and abuse, thus saving our industry millions of dollars in wasted processes.”
Available through HCP’s clinical e-learning system will be the opportunity to become officially certified in a CDISC standard after completing the related CDISC Authorized Education course. After finishing all quizzes in a standards course with a pass rate of at least 80%, individuals will receive an official CDISC Authorized Education Certification for that standard. Each student’s online training history and certifications are verified and available anytime on the CDISC Online Education website via each participant’s own Personal Experience and Training (PET) account, and these records can be shared with colleagues, clients and potential employers.
