HealthMEDX was invited to participate as a featured speaker at the 2013 LTPAC Health Information Technology Summit in Baltimore, MD held June 17 – 18, 2013 and participated in the “LTPAC Interoperability and Innovation Showcase.” The session highlighted innovative health information exchange business models and the impact of such exchange models on health outcomes, quality of care and healthcare utilization and costs.
The session, which was hosted by Majd Alwan, Senior Vice President of Technology and Executive Director of the LeadingAge Center for Aging Services Technologies (CAST), called attention to regulatory reform and Meaningful Use requirements and the resulting impact of both on post-acute providers to be prepared for electronic information exchange. “LTPAC providers made it clear that they are feeling pressure from health systems to be equipped for interoperability, care coordination, analytics, quality monitoring tools, and readmission prevention programs,” said Alwan.
Gerry McCarthy, HealthMEDX Vice President, delivered a presentation on “Care Coordination through Interoperability” and discussed the considerable financial exposure that health systems and hospitals now face based on care decisions that occur beyond the four walls of the hospital. He noted that as s a result of these financial drivers, acute-care providers are beginning to form strategic partnerships with LTPAC providers.
HealthMEDX is the only vendor that provides an integrated, person-centric system that includes a full electronic medical record and comprehensive billing system with integrated CRM. McCarthy demonstrated how the HealthMEDX Vision Solution, along with the innovative HealthMEDX Exchange platform, enables interoperability by electronically moving documents, including the Continuity of Care documents, between LTPAC providers and health systems, Health Information Exchanges (HIEs), and physician organizations. By creating a seamless flow of information, HealthMEDX technology enables LTPAC providers to coordinate care with hospitals and other partners in the continuum and to strategically leverage their services to drive new care models focused on avoidable admissions and reduced length of stay in lower cost post-acute care settings.
HealthMEDX provides an integrated clinical/financial EMR and CRM across the entire LTPAC care continuum, including: Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living, Independent Living, Rehab, Home Care and Hospice. The SaaS based architecture supports interoperability with hospitals, physicians and payers to address readmission management and care coordination challenges across the care continuum.
