“Purchasing Canadian-sourced green power from Renewable Choice is an important and integral part of our energy management and sustainability strategy,” said Alexis Esseltine Scoon, Sustainability Manager for Keilhauer.

Boulder, CO (PRWEB) June 26, 2013

Renewable Choice Energy (http://www.renewablechoice.com) today announced that its client Keilhauer has achieved status as one of Canada’s greenest employers. The honor was bestowed upon Keilhauer by the editors of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project and recognizes Canadian companies that are leaders in environmental sustainability and, as a result, are attracting new talent.

Keilhauer’s progressive approach toward corporate responsibility led to the recognition as a Greenest Employer. In 2011, the company hired a full-time Sustainability Manager to lead the Planet Keilhauer initiative, the company’s sustainability program that is integrated into the heart of Keilhauer’s manufacturing method and operations. Examples of the company’s Planet Keilhauer projects include efforts to reduce waste, a formal Design for Environment process that includes employee training and ongoing research to achieve the company’s end goal of closed-loop manufacturing, and community leadership in sustainability manufacturing education.

Keilhauer also purchases Canadian renewable energy credits (RECs) from Renewable Choice equal to 100 percent of the company’s annual electricity usage. This allows Keilhauer to counterbalance the carbon emissions created as a result of the company’s purchased electricity consumption, making them 100 percent carbon neutral.

“Purchasing Canadian-sourced green power from Renewable Choice is an important and integral part of our energy management and sustainability strategy,” said Alexis Esseltine Scoon, Sustainability Manager for Keilhauer. “We value our partnership.”

RECs are the way that green power is tracked and traded in North America and are used by thousands of U.S. and Canadian organizations, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, to decrease environmental impact. Renewable Choice works across Canada to provide organizations with competitively-priced green power that support the efforts of the country’s Action on Climate Change.

“We are so pleased to be working with Keilhauer—and to help them achieve recognition like the Greenest Employer honor,” said John Powers, VP of Business Development for Renewable Choice. “As an environmentally and socially progressive manufacturer, Keilhauer’s business practices have set the bar for other organizations looking to develop similar products and processes.”
