Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner J. Kent Friedman has been awarded the Gridiron Foundation of Triumph Spirit Award.

Kenny’s passion for serving the community is extraordinary. In addition to fulfilling his many professional commitments at the firm, Kenny remains active in a number of important nonprofit organizations.

The Gridiron Foundation of Triumph (G.I.F.T.), a non-profit organization that provides kids with athletic and academic training and life-skills training year-round, has awarded Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner J. Kent Friedman the Spirit Award recognizing professionals and civic leaders who strive to be steadfast advocates for youth in the community.

Award selections are based on nominee’s contribution to philanthropy, commitment to local citizenry and involvement in community and civic activities.

“We are so proud of Kenny and the work he has done for Houston and Harris County,” Harris County-Houston Sports Authority (HCHSA) CEO Janis Schmees Burke commented. “He pours tireless energy into our organization, and we could not be more thankful to have him as our leader.”

A veteran corporate/transactional lawyer as well as Houston civic leader, Friedman is the current chairman of the board of the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority, the public entity that guided the building of Minute Maid Park, Reliant Stadium, Toyota Center and the BBVA Compass Dynamo Stadium. Additionally, he currently serves on the advisory board of the Hermann Park Conservancy, and on the boards of the Harris County Precinct One Street Olympics, Texas Bowl and the Leo Baeck Educational Center Foundation.
