The Trulign™ Toric Lens may allow for my patients to see a great range of vision and reduce or even eliminate the need for glasses.

Houston, Texas (PRWEB) June 27, 2013

The first accommodating Intraocular Lens (IOL) that also corrects astigmatism is available for cataract patients in Houston at Eye Excellence. Shortly after being approved by the FDA May 2013, Mary Green, Ph.D, M.D., director of Eye Excellence, decided to be one of the first institutions in Houston to carry the revolutionary new Trulign™ Toric Lens.

“Cataract surgery requires the removal of the natural lens, and insertion of an intraocular lens,” explains Dr. Green. “While this corrects the problem of cataracts, it can leave the patient with something to be desired out of their vision because they may still require reading glasses or glasses for distance vision. The Trulign™ Toric Lens may allow for my patients to see a great range of vision and reduce or even eliminate the need for glasses. On top of all this, it is the first accommodative Toric lens that actually can correct astigmatism as well, which is what we find to be truly amazing.”

The Trulign™ Toric Lens was designed with active individuals in mind looking for a way to live without dependency on glasses or contacts. For nighttime drivers, the lens is also the optimal choice, providing superior vision than other lenses, especially in dimly lit areas. As the first accommodating lens of its kind that also fixes astigmatism, Dr. Green suggests this option for any patient with astigmatism between 0.83 D and 2.50 Diopters.

“We are excited to be one of the first eye care centers in the country to provide an option like the Trulign™ Toric Lens,” says Dr. Green. “We feel like if new technology becomes available and has the chance to improve the quality of life for our patients, then it is most definitely worth investing in. I’m excited for Houston cataract patients with astigmatism to find out about this exciting, new option.”
