London, United Kingdom (PRWEB UK) 27 June 2013
ecoConnect, the UK’s green industry business network, today welcomed DECC’s (The Government's Department of Energy & Climate Change) sponsorship of Cleantech Innovate 2014. The annual innovation showcase was formally endorsed by Greg Barker, Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change at a presentation at The Hub Westminster.
DECC will introduce the afternoon session of this unique all day event as part of their ongoing programme of support for UK entrepreneurs looking to bring innovative low-carbon products to market, which includes their Energy Entrepreneur’s Fund.
Energy and Climate Change Minister Greg Barker said: “ecoConnect’s Cleantech Innovate 2014 is a great way for leading British entrepreneurs to share ideas and expertise and showcase their innovative low carbon designs. The Coalition has an important part to play in driving forward growth in this sector. That’s why we are backing Cleantech Innovate 2014 to boost knowledge sharing on the ground and help attract further investment. We are channelling funding into a range of innovative projects across the nation, helping people with an entrepreneurial spirit rise to the challenge. We are leading the way with the £19m second round of our Energy Entrepreneurs Fund, which is now open for applications.”
Cleantech Innovate is a unique event at which 40 all-British companies, selected from a highly competitive field and representing the best of next generation green industry pioneering, will present live at the largest national showcase of its kind. It will be held at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Westminster on February 13th 2014.
Catherine Hokin, Executive Director and Co-Founder of ecoConnect said: “Following the success of Cleantech Innovate 2013, we are delighted to launch our 2014 event. Many of the delegates at this year’s event commented on the energy in the room which I believe was due to the quality of the presenters – last year we had over 90 applications to choose our 40 finalists from and this year we expect to be in three figures. DECC’s sponsorship of the 2014 event is great validation for a great programme.”
