Telecom and technology leaders, investment bankers, investors and advisers are meeting in Warsaw to assess the surge in new investment opportunities, particularly mergers and acquisitions, at the TMT Finance Central and East Europe Conference on September 25.

European M&A activity in the telecom, media and technology space has risen significantly in recent months, and the wave of new deals is expected to transform the sector. The M&A Panel forms one of seven leadership panel sessions at the conference, and will feature key industry leaders, investors, financiers and advisers assessing the likely impact of deals across the region. Other key session themes include Telecom and Cable Strategy Round Tables, the Future of TMT, Raising Finance, Regulation and Infrastructure Investment.

Key speakers announced for the conference include Miroslaw Godlewski, CEO, Netia;
Roland Haidner, Head of M&A, Telekom Austria; Philipp Meier-Scherling, Head of Telecoms EMEA, Deutsche Bank; Petr Polach, Head of TMT Acquisition, Project & Structured Finance, Raiffeisen Bank; and Przemek Sienkiewicz, Head of Enterprise CEE, Russia & CIS, Google.

Over 35 speakers will be announced for the conference in the coming weeks, which is part of a global series produced by TMT Finance, the international news and events provider.

“There is a surge in large scale M&A activity in the telecom space across Europe at the moment, as shown by Vodafone’s 7.7 billion euro bid for Kabel Deutschland, Hutchison’s 850 million euro takeover of Telefonica’s Irish O2 business, and US giant AT&T’s eagerness to make acquisitions, which reflects an increased confidence and appetite for deals across the sector,” said Dominic Lowndes, Managing Director of TMT Finance.

“Processes to find buyers for assets such as GTS, SBB Telemach and Telekom Slovenije are also thought to be underway or imminent, so we are expecting a lot of deals to take place across Central and East Europe over the next 12-18 months, with in-country mobile and cable operator consolidation and major demand from private equity investors driving opportunities,” he said.

TMT Finance & Investment Central and East Europe 2013 takes place at the Polonia Palace Hotel, Warsaw on September 25. The conference brings together key industry executives and leaders from the global financial and advisory community. Speakers and delegates are CEOs, CFOs, CSOs and Heads of M&A, investment bankers, private equity investors, government representatives, regulators and specialist legal and strategic advisers and thought leaders.
