Williams Mullen is pleased to announce that Robert Travers, a partner in our Litigation practice, has been honored by the American College of Trial Lawyers and presented with the inaugural Chappell-Morris Award for Young Lawyers. The Award is named in honor of R. Harvey Chappell, Jr., and James W Morris, III, both of whom served as President of the American College of Trial Lawyers and both of whom were outstanding trial lawyers in Virginia for more than 50 years. The Award, given every two years, recognizes four Virginia trial lawyers who have consistently demonstrated professionalism, high ethical standards, excellent character and outstanding trial skills during their careers.
Recipients of the Award are selected after a confidential vetting process that includes a case history review and interviews with the candidate’s opposing counsel and presiding judges. Rob was presented with this award on June 15, 2013, at the 75th Annual meeting of the Virginia State Bar.
“Virginia includes some truly great trial lawyers, and to be recognized in this way is an honor,” said Mr. Travers. “I intend to live up to this recognition throughout my career.”
The American College of Trial Lawyers is a professional association of lawyers and judges skilled and experienced in the trial of cases and dedicated to maintaining and improving the standards of trial practice, administration of justice and ethics of the profession. Membership into the College is by invitation only.
