The Moxie Awards ceremony is an annual event which recognizes individuals and organizations for their contributions as the city’s best technology leaders and companies. This year, five finalists were selected for 21 categories from a pool of more than 7,000 nominations. The finalists were ranked based on votes from the public and a panel of judges. Overall, Built In Chicago collected nearly 100,000 votes.

Award recipients were announced during the second annual Moxie Awards on June 20, 2013 at the Park West in Chicago. The ceremony featured Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, whose opening remarks highlighted the vibrancy of entrepreneurship and innovation in the city.
