DBT and its specific interventions are appropriate for people of all ages.
Venice Beach, CA (PRWEB) June 27, 2013
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based therapeutic modality that is effective for treating a variety of mental health disorders in both adults and adolescents.
On Friday, July 19, Dr. Alina Gorgorian, clinical director of Clearview Women’s Center for Borderline Personality and Emotional Disorders, will teach attendees the basics of DBT therapy and its clinical application for young adults and adolescents.
In the “Fundamentals of Dialectical Behavior Therapy” workshop, Dr. Gorgorian will provide an overview of the four modules of a comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy model – individual DBT therapy, DBT skills groups, DBT consultation teams, and phone coaching.
“DBT and its specific interventions are appropriate for people of all ages,” Dr. Gorgorian said. “For instance, mindfulness skills are now being taught in elementary schools, starting with kindergarten-age children. This workshop will give therapists a chance to see if DBT is right for them and the populations they treat.”
Dr. Gorgorian is intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and has taught numerous courses in DBT. At Clearview Women’s Center, which is a comprehensive DBT program offering residential and day treatment options, Dr. Gorgorian oversees the clinical program, facilitates DBT skills groups, and provides training and education on DBT to program staff.
