Consumer confidence is at a five-year high and they are celebrating this new feeling of wealth by maximizing special events, like weddings, with added cash.

Wait. People are getting married younger than they did last year?
Didn’t we hear just the complete opposite six months ago?
Dennis Morgan, a spokesman for Allurez, a top online jewelry retailer said, “Our data indicates that at least Allurez customers have been getting engaged and married younger over the last year. In addition, they are spending a lot more on engagement rings, wedding receptions and honeymoons, too.”
It appears that even those who gather and analyze data for a living agree. According to a recent Bloomberg report, confidence among young people is on the rise, they are feeling better about the economy and their futures.
Consumer confidence is at a five-year high and they are celebrating this new feeling of wealth by maximizing special events, like weddings, with added cash. In addition, the demand for new housing has helped garner further confidence in the economy. Heads of households are younger, their disposable income appears to be increasing and they are more than happy to share the wealth with all market sectors, including the jewelry industry.
“My advice,” Dennis Morgan continued, “is to ride the wave. Engagement rings, weddings, honeymoons, they are all a once in a lifetime purchase. Younger people are loosening their purse strings to make these special occasions the best they can be the first time around.”
According to figures cited in a Bloomberg report earlier this month, the cost of the average U.S wedding rose 5.2% in 2012 from a year earlier.
Dennis Morgan added, “In recent months we have seen a general increase in online jewelry sales. Engagement rings are leading the pack with seasonal and island jewelry not far behind. From diamond accents on 14K gold flip flop pendants to gemstone palm trees, cost is becoming secondary to quality, artistic styling and attention to detail.”
Although no-one can predict if, in fact, the age of couples entering into the wedding market is here to stay, but in the words of Dennis Morgan, ‘just ride the wave.’
