Since 2007 Shoeboxed has been the industry leader in online receipt scanning and organization, serving over 500,000 small business owners worldwide.

“We support and celebrate small businesses everyday at Shoeboxed,” said Taylor Mingos, founder and CEO of Shoeboxed. “We’re thrilled that these entrepreneurs are receiving national recognition."

Shoeboxed, the industry leader in cloud-based receipt scanning, released a video celebrating and honoring small businesses across America. The video was released during National Small Business Week, a week in June recognized by the President of the United States every year since 1963.

The video, entitled Shoeboxed Tribute to Small Business Superheroes, was filmed in Durham, N.C., the location of Shoeboxed headquarters. As an area of great startup and small business growth, the video highlights local businesses and reminds viewers of the impact these entrepreneurs have on their everyday lives.

“We support and celebrate small businesses everyday at Shoeboxed,” said Taylor Mingos, founder and CEO of Shoeboxed. “We’re thrilled that these entrepreneurs are receiving national recognition and that Americans are getting a glimpse of their hard work that we see all the time.”

This year’s National Small Business Week marked the 50th annual celebration. The week includes celebratory events in major cities, such as Washington, D.C., and Seattle, that give entrepreneurs unique networking and learning opportunities. Events include conferences, keynote speakers, mentoring on government contracting and partnership suggestions. At the end of the week, the National Small Business Person of the Year Award is given out to one deserving small business or solopreneur.

National Small Business Week is sponsored every year by the Small Business Administration. The organization has been around since 1953, aiming to promote growth and independence in small businesses across the country, with the understanding that they are the backbone of the U.S economy.

According to the U.S. Small Business Association, over 50 percent of all Americans own a small business or are employed by a small business, and over 65 percent of new jobs each year are created by small businesses. These numbers demonstrate that small businesses are a driving force of our economy and a hub of job creation. The team at Shoeboxed was thrilled to be able to spotlight small businesses that build and support communities across the country.

The video included footage of several local businesses, including local startup accelerator The Startup Factory. Shoeboxed would like to thank the following businesses for being a part of this tribute: Market Street Coffee, Morgan Imports, Ninth Street Flowers, The Playhouse Toy Store, The Saltbox, Tip Top Cycles, The Cupcake Bar, The Regulator Bookshop, The Scrap Exchange and The Startup Factory.
