Niman Ranch celebrates its more than 550 U.S. family hog farmers August 17, 2013 in Des Moines, Iowa, at its 15th Annual Hog Farmer Appreciation Dinner. Seven renowned chefs share their passion for humanely and sustainably raised pork by honoring the farmers who raise the animals at the annual celebration.

“Each of these chefs has shown a commitment to using humanely and sustainably raised pork in their restaurants,” said Paul Willis, Niman Ranch Pork Company founder and manager. “Our farmers take pride in raising hogs traditionally but often do not get to see how chefs use the pork on their menus, so we bring the restaurants to them.”
The chefs collaborate on a multi-course dinner highlighting Niman Ranch pork while each preparing two dishes reflecting their culinary perspective.
“It is exciting to see a group of acclaimed chefs work together to create a memorable meal,” states Niman Ranch Executive Chef Andrew Hunter. “Not only do they get to use the highest quality pork available, we also work with numerous Iowa farmers to celebrate the bounty of produce and products available in the area.”
This year’s keynote speaker, Chefs Collaborative Chairman and award-winning chef Michael Leviton, will speak about the impact of the farmers raising animals humanely and sustainably. Also during the dinner, Niman Ranch recognizes farmers for superior hog production and awards the Next Generation Scholarship.
