We’re proud to launch and support the Why I Get Tested project, and we hope it will play a significant role in eliminating the stigma attached to STD testing, increasing the number of people getting tested, and reducing STD transmission rates.
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 27, 2013
The Why I Get Tested project is a not-for-profit video project that aims to encourage people to get tested for HIV and other STDs. Its goal is to eliminate the stigma that surrounds getting tested for STDs by putting a face on this important, and potentially life-saving health activity.
"We chose National HIV Testing Day to launch the Why I Get Tested project to highlight the importance of HIV and STD testing. We’re proud to launch and support the Why I Get Tested project, and we hope it will play a significant role in eliminating the stigma attached to STD testing, increasing the number of people getting tested, and reducing STD transmission rates," said Sridhar Murthy, CEO Analyte Health.
The CDC cites STD testing as a critical step in reducing transmission rates. The project developers hope visitors will see themselves in the videos and stories about why others get tested for STDs and view the stories as a source of encouragement and empowerment.
