Once again, both George Tragos and Peter Sartes of the Law Offices of Tragos & Sartes have been selected for the annual list of the top attorneys in Florida by Super Lawyers.
Super Lawyers uses a patented multiphase selection process, designed to assure credibility and impartiality in assembly a diverse list of attorneys.
In the first phase, attorneys are invited to nominate their peers. Nominees may be from a colleague in the same firm, but all nominations from within a firm have to be matched by a nomination from outside the firm. The nominations are carefully monitored, to avoid a “tit-for-tat” situation where lawyers trade nominations.
Attorneys can also become a part of the candidate pool if the research team of Super Lawyers identifies them independently. Super Lawyers looks for attorneys who have credentials, honors or results that demonstrate a high level of professional achievement.
In the next phase, Super Lawyers evaluates the candidates and assigns points based on based on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement: verdicts and settlements; transactions; representative clients; experience; honors and awards; special licenses and certifications; position within law firm; bar and or other professional activity; pro bono and community service as a lawyer; scholarly lectures and writings; education and employment background; and other outstanding achievements.
In the third phase, the most highly ranked candidates from the first two parts of the selection process are invited to participate in peer reviews, divided into areas of practice.
In the final phase candidates are grouped by size of firm, so that candidates from smaller firms or with solo practices are compared with other candidates from small firms, and candidates from large firms are likewise compared with other candidates from large firms.
Before the final decision is published, Super Lawyers checks each finalist’s standing with local licensing authorities and does a thorough internet check to make sure there are no problems that could reflect badly on the lawyer. The final list contains no more than 5% of the lawyers in an area.
Rising Stars includes only lawyers who are under 40 or who have been in practice fewer than ten years. Less than 2.5% of lawyers are selected for Rising Stars.
