IWC Schaffhausen and The Watch Gallery were delighted to welcome IWC brand ambassador Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes AMG Petronas Team Principal Ross Brawn at the launch of their two-week pop-up exhibition in The Wonder Room at Selfridges, London.
The exhibition celebrates the completely remodelled 2013 IWC Ingenieur watch collection, as well as IWC’s new partnership with the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One™ Team. Transforming the Concept Store in Selfridges, into a virtual wind tunnel, a first in the UK within a department store, IWC and The Watch Gallery are taking consumers on a journey, which offers an exclusive “behind the scenes” glimpse into the synergies between watchmaking and the automotive sector.
The launch saw surprise appearances from Lewis Hamilton and Ross Brawn, with Lewis completing a lap of Silverstone in the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One™ simulator car. The pair also made time to check out the new Ingenieur collection as well as the exclusive Ingenieur Constant Force Tourbillon which is exclusively available in Selfridges in the UK. The exhibition is a must for any watch or motoring aficionado.
Chairman of The Watch Gallery, David Coleridge commented, “The Watch Gallery is very excited to partner with IWC and Selfridges on such an innovative installation, the first of its kind in a department store. With the British Grand Prix just around the corner, this is a rare opportunity for customers to explore the new Ingenieur collection in full and experience the exclusive partnership between IWC and Mercedes AMG Petronas first hand. Showcasing new, limited edition and vintage Ingenieur watches, this is a fantastic chance for IWC fans to discover the engineering expertise behind the collection.”
