Our philosophy and slogan is that We Love ‘em Like Our Own, so we all voted to name the company after the pet we all knew and loved. Newman was the owner’s yellow lab. Everybody loved Newman and we’re proud to have his name on our door.

In March of 2013, Val-U-Vet announced that their six animal hospitals will change their name from Val-U-Vet to Newman Veterinary Centers. The company formerly known as Val-U-Vet is made up of two separate branches. The first branch is a chain of six full service brick and mortar animal hospitals. The six animal hospitals, with locations in DeLand, Deltona, Sanford, Edgewater, South Daytona and Ormond Beach, are now named Newman Veterinary Centers.

The second branch of the company consists of mobile pet vaccination clinic units that travel across the state of Florida providing low cost pet vaccinations. The mobile pet shot branch will continue to operate under the name Val-U-Vet Mobile Pet Shot Clinics.

“Val-U-Vet has not been sold or changed owners. We have simply separated the two branches of our company by adding a new name. We are the same passionate team of pet lovers. We have simply changed the name of the hospitals to better reflect the quality veterinary care we strive to provide. We are all excited to move forward with the new name and continue providing Central Florida residents with the quality care and excellent prices that they have come to expect from us” stated Brandon Godwin, Marketing Director for Newman Veterinary Centers and Val-U-Vet Mobile Pet Shot Clinics.

The new name is a tribute to the owner’s late Labrador Retriever named Newman. “We wanted our new name to illustrate our passion for helping pets. Our philosophy and slogan is that We Love ‘em Like Our Own, so we all voted to name the company after the pet we all knew and loved. Newman was the owner’s yellow lab. Everybody loved Newman and we’re proud to have his name on our door” said Godwin. There is a blog post on their website that goes into more detail about the Val-U-Vet name change and Newman the dog.
