Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 28, 2013
James R. Wells, PhD., a leading research and development expert on high performance construction methods, addressed over 70 Chicago-area builders, architects and code officials last month at Priority Energy’s offices in Park Ridge, IL. The sessions, entitled “Build a Better House at Lower Cost by Controlling Infiltration” and “Moisture Dynamics in Residential Construction” were both filled to capacity. In response to this demand Priority Energy will be hosting a repeat lecture event in August.
Dr. Wells’ shared his research findings on the building envelope, roofing, insulation, and waterproofing and their impact on energy performance. He walked participants through the performance vs. the prescriptive path methods of attaining desired energy performance goals and reviewed principles of moisture movement and vapor flow.
IECC 2012 building code requirements are also reviewed, as well as, money and time-saving weather barrier systems, which can make it easier for builders to meet the new code requirements.
These sessions qualify for ALA and AIA continuing education credits.
