Beacon EDI, a Southern-California EDI Provider became a member of the most important EDI standards committee in the nation.

Beacon’s target market is the small-to-medium size organization. The customers that use Beacon technologies do not need any software and can perform all EDI-related functions easily through the Web and with an iPad. In order to make this all work, Beacon has to take raw standard EDI data and translate it to a human-readable user-friendly format.

The EDI standards development process has been around for over 3 decades. The American National Standards Institute charted the X12 committee back in 1979 and since then, ANSI X12 has been responsible for all EDI standards development. Beacon’s X12 membership will help contribute to the standards development process. Beacon will also use all the advantages and benefits available from being an X12 member and integrate those benefits into its products and services. Since most of Beacon’s customers are in the retail industry, Beacon’s role within the standards community will be in the X12-M subcommittee, which is the supply-chain committee.

Beacon EDI is only one of a few EDI service providers catering the small-to-medium size business with ANSI X12 Membership. This membership will indirectly provide Beacon EDI customers the benefits that EDI standards development process has to offer.
