Dive Master Insurance, a specialist insurance provider for scuba divers, has seen significant improvements in its organic search engine rankings following Google’s Penguin 2.0 update, due to the business’ on-going campaign with digital agency Click Consult.
Rolled out on the 23rd May, Penguin 2.0 was an algorithmic update by Google which aims to prevent websites that employ black-hat SEO techniques, i.e. attempts to trick search engines, from ranking high on results pages. Since this update was introduced, Dive Master Insurance has seen an increase in ranking for 40 per cent of the selected keywords that it is targeting.
Initially, 24 of the 32 selected terms ranked on page one of the search engine results pages (SERPs). However, as of 24th June, all 32 terms for Dive Master Insurance now rank on the first page. There has also been no change in ranking to those that previously ranked pre-Penguin 2.0. Furthermore, Dive Master saw a boost in organic site traffic of 17.4 per cent for the month 24th May- 24th June, compared to the month prior to Google’s update.
A spokesperson for Click Consult said: "Websites that have incorporated black-hat SEO techniques are generally not particularly user friendly, as they are tailored more for the benefit of the search engine rather than the visitor, and it is frustrating when these types of sites rank higher than those sites that have incorporated white-hat tactics. We’re delighted to see these results for Dive Master Insurance and they prove that Penguin 2.0 is beginning to take the kind of effect that Google promised that it would do."
