Austin Associates, LLC Managing Director and Principal Craig J. Mancinotti announced that Gerry J. Smith has joined the firm as Managing Director of its Western Region. Smith will spearhead delivery of the firm’s comprehensive range of community bank consulting services to financial institutions in the western United States, with an initial focus on Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas and Utah.

“Community banks are under tremendous pressure to improve earnings, grow their balance sheets and manage risks in an environment where scrutiny by customers, shareholders and regulators is more prevalent,” Mancinotti commented. “Gerry Smith has an extensive background and proven track record as a community bank CEO and director, and as an advisor to community banks throughout the western U.S. via his successful consulting practice,” Mancinotti added.

In addition to his community bank leadership and consulting experience, Smith has also served in financial management capacities with several regional banking companies. He earned a CPA certification and served as a senior staff auditor with a national accounting firm.
