We are excited to see the growth of this race and believe that this will become an annual late season event that triathletes from around our region and beyond will not want to miss.

Great Lakes LLC will host the second annual Great Lakes 100 Mile Triathlon to benefit YMCA Camp Kenan and Camp Kenan’s Camper Scholarship. The race will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, along Lake Ontario in Western New York. The race will include a one-mile swim through Lake Ontario, 84-mile bike ride and 15-mile run, set along the stunning backdrop of the Great Lakes and Niagara Escarpment.

The one-mile swim is an out and back in Lake Ontario, while the two loop bike winds through the Great Lakes Wine Region and the run passes by apple orchards, corn fields, and a historic lighthouse. Organizers of the event believe the unique triathlon distance appeals to a wide range of athletes and draws accomplished racers from across the nation and Canada.

The triathlon will begin at Camp Kenan in Barker, N.Y. on the Lake Ontario south shore. Camp Kenan provides easy access to the Seaway Trail highway bike course and instant access to low-traffic, scenic country roads for a relaxing run course. On-site cabin lodging and tent sites will be available for athletes and supporters and the climbing wall, zip line and obstacle course will be open to the public during the race, weather permitting.

A major benefactor of the race, YMCA Camp Kenan allows youth to develop an appreciation for nature, make new friends and enhance a positive self-image. Camp Kenan’s Camper Scholarship Fund helps to bring kids to camp. Local and national sponsors across industries have signed up to support and ensure the event’s success.

Flexible corporate sponsorship opportunities exist to suit any partner’s budget for the triathlon.

Athletes who participate in the Great Lakes 100 Mile Triathlon will receive a merino wool long-sleeve jersey. The first 100 registrants also get a jar of almond butter.

Registration is open now for triathletes, duathletes, aqua bike competitors, and relays. Relays may be formed by two or three athletes in any combination. The Triathlon will be limited to the first 500 athletes who register. Register online at
