Duxbury, MA (PRWEB) June 29, 2013
The Village at Duxbury on the Massachusetts South Shore is opening a Medical Center for current and future residents on the campus of the senior living community, which also offers a continuum of care. Affiliated with Jordan Hospital in Plymouth, MA, the new Medical Center will be staffed by physicians and other Jordan practitioners who will work collaboratively with area medical specialists, as, or if needed. The center will feature an expansive waiting room, four examination rooms and laboratory facilities.
Well-respected geriatrician Allen Waltman, MD, has been named medical director of the new center. Dr. Waltman is board-certified in internal medicine and geriatrics. A practicing geriatrician for more than 40 years, Dr. Waltman has held positions with George Washington University Hospital, Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center, Brockton Hospital and Quincy Medical Center.
"The ability to offer quality and convenient care to our residents, now and in the future was the driving force behind the medical center," says Paul T. Casale, vice president, Welch Healthcare and Retirement Group. “We understand that adults moving to the Village will appreciate the convenience of an on-site physician practice for their appointments, so they don’t always have to travel to surrounding towns and Boston,” adds Casale.
The Village at Duxbury was the first continuing care retirement community to be established on the South Shore of Massachusetts. The senior living community, which features a cooperative ownership model, for individuals 62 or older is managed by Welch Healthcare and Retirement Group. The cooperative offers garden homes, independent living apartments and a small number of assisted living apartments, with opportunities for Short Stays and Vacation Stays. The Village at Duxbury is on a campus with a short-rehabilitation and long-term skilled care nursing center as well as a special Alzheimer’s and Memory Care Center.
