Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) June 30, 2013
The Gervais Group, a leader in the development and implementation of web design, reputation management, and online marketing strategies is pleased to announce its entrance in this year’s “Social Madness” Competition sponsored by American City Business Journals. The local competition is scheduled to begin on June 3rd, 2013, with winners announced on July 9th. The National Social Madness then starts on July 16th and culminates with winners being announced on August 20th, 2013.
The competition measures the social engagement of participating companies, using a “…proprietary algorithm to measure a company’s social engagement on the Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google Plus platforms.” Each company that enters the competition will be placed in a small, medium or large category, based on the total number of followers, fans, etc. across the participating social media platforms at the initiation of the local competition phase.
The same process will be undertaken again for the 132 companies that emerge from the local competitions to qualify for the national competition. In both the local and national competition phases, votes on the website bizjournals.com and engagement (likes, comments, and shares of content) on the included social media sites will be tabulated by the Social Madness algorithm to determine the winners. The algorithm does not include page “likes”, “follows”, “connections”, etc. as part of the contest’s judging criteria.
In both the local and national competitions, the first two weeks will pit all entrants against the entire field in their local category/markets. At the conclusion of the open phase of the competition, the contest will change over to a tournament style format with brackets pitting one advancing company versus another. Each winning company in the national competition from the small, medium and large company categories will be awarded the opportunity to direct $10,000 to the charity of their choice.
The Gervais Group develops strategies that integrate internet marketing, web design, ecommerce and reputation management in a holistic process that builds brand awareness, authority and sales for each of its client companies. This process is designed to evolve with the rapidly changing landscape of the internet to capitalize on opportunities as they occur.
Jason Gervais, Senior Project Manager of the Gervais Group, said of the Social Madness Competition, “We have always thrived on competition and this contest is a fun and creative way to do that.” He added, “Being able to direct $10,000 to a charity in the Atlanta area would be a great honor for all of us as well.”
The 2012 Social Madness Competition had almost 4,000 company entries, 750,000 votes on bizjournals.com, 14 million likes on Facebook, and over 2 million new follows on Twitter. Donations of $10,000 each went to “Connecting for Good”, a charity that helps to provide broadband access in low income neighborhoods, “Kids Beating Cancer”, and the “Kids in Need Foundation”.
