Internet marketing company fishbat releases the latest edition of “fishbat Splash,” which highlights Instagram’s video announcement and LinkedIn changes.

On June 30, 2013 Internet marketing company fishbat releases another edition of “fishbat Splash,” which recaps the biggest digital news stories of the week, including Instagram video and LinkedIn homepage updates.

According to the “fishbat Splash” video, Instagram recently updated its mobile app by adding a video feature. Like Vine, the video feature is able to record stop motion videos. However, Instagram’s update also gives users the ability to add filters to videos and delete previous sections in case of a mistake. While Vine videos are only 6-seconds, Instagram videos are 15 seconds.

fishbat COO and Splash host, Scott Darrohn, says the update could be detrimental to Vine. “Instagram took what Vine had, but made it easier to use and customizable,” he says. “You’re able to add vintage filters to your video to create something artsy and you’re also able to erase something if you mess up. Its usability levels are off the charts, not to mention, Instagram is already a super popular platform with over 80 million users. So instead of learning a new platform and trying to find friends on there, you can just upload videos through an app you’re already familiar with. It’s going to be very useful for an Internet marketing company like us.”

The video also discusses changes made to LinkedIn’s homepage. The homepage is now more customizable, Darrohn says. “In order to give users more insight into who’s been looking at their profiles, LinkedIn launched a customizable page with ‘Who’s Viewed Your Updates’ and ‘You Recently Visited,’” he says. “The additions are designed to promote connection and spur engagement easily. You can also track how well your content is performing within your network to see how influential you really are.”
